The entrance to the MassRock from the road.

Mass Rock is located in a natural arena surrounded by high hills and forestry. It must have made an perfect hideaway. Even today it offers a peaceful haven away from the winds and the cares of life.

This bridge above was erected to help Mass goers to pass from side of the stream to the other. In penal times, this stream marked the boundaries between two estates. If a landlord was anti Catholic, the priest could quickly passover to the other side and escape. Alternatively, the people could pass over and be safe if their own landlord was unsympathetic.

A bench, generously erected by locals, directly facing the Mass Rock where you can sit and ponder times past.

"What is this life, if full of care,

We have no time to stand and stare.."

This beautiful picnic area lies just North of the village alongside the River Bride. In years past it was often visited by city drivers. However in recent years it has remained quiet and little frequented. It is an ideal place for children to paddle; alternatively there is a circular walk passing over two timber contructed bridges. The area is ideal for a peaceful or romantic walk.
